"DO" Is The Point

This comes from James 1:21-25: "
21 Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24 For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25 But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing."

You cannot understand James until you get this. What is he talking about here when he says, the word? If you answered GRACE, your absolutely right. The danger of being a Hearer only is the danger with the deception. We become blind of our blindness. A good examle of deception is when we take credit for a good thing done. This kills us. Hearing to do, and hearing to hear is a very different thing. One is intent, eager, prayerful, evaluative, contrite, and humble, but the other is disinterested, and sleepy, distracted.

So, what kind are you, and which sounds hearing to do, and which is just hearing for the sake of hearing? If someone is hearing for the sake of hearing at church, what is he benifitting? Why should he EVEN GO TO CHURCH IF THERE IS NO POINT? That just makes no sense. To be a doer, remember what you here, and DO IT! Transfer one peice of truth to one peice of life. Holliness is a foundation for receiving biblical truths. We have to hear the scripture before doing it. If you do scripture before reading, how is that POSSIBLE?

True knowledge preludes action. Hearing is a prerequisite for doing. So if you're not doing it, you didn't have true knowledge of what you were hearing. There will continue to be a measure of deception. Be quick to hear slow to speak and slow to be angry. You should like the sermon, but you should also be changed and doing the thing that the sermon gave you to do. An old saying comes to mind: "Safety in numbers, doncha know?" You should read the bible as if reading a relatives will. You want to know what is in it for you, it's the same way in the bible. THERE IS SOMETHING FOR YOU!

God has authority. He speaks through James. If really God was saying this in front of you, wouldn't you want to do it with haste and sincere? This is the same guy who drove out mad demons. Your not even close to being anything of power. If you don't want to be instantly broken, I'd do it. Either two things. You hate Jesus, and you want to kill him. The other way, you'd love him and your eyes would be open. You'd realize just HOW much you need him. And believe me, You'll always need him, ESPECIALY if you don't think you need him.

The more you realize you need him, you'll just charge at him to be with him, and not the other way around. But, you still don't go to him with your power, it just doesn't go like that, no matter how much ya want it. He will crave a desire in you first for him. How did this go for ya??
